Current Projects

Right now I am trying to do a longer manga comic which will probably be about thirty pages long! Its taking ages but I think its going really well! I have draw the first 11 pages and I am nearly half way! All I neeed to do is finish colouring the draft anf then I can start colouring it in on the comouter which might take a while but I really want this one to be done properlly and hopefully it might show that I have improved from the last Manga comic attempt!

I have also draw a green goblin that features briefly in the comic that I need to scan in so I will put it up later! Any suggestions on what else I should draw comment below :) X

Dwarf Lord- Computer

I loved drawing the dwarf I did earlier that I  decided that I would use my new Manga Debut Studio 4 software and try to draw the dwarf again! In the picture some of the clothing items like the jacket had to be altered to fit with the promarker colours I have so by doing it on the computer it allowed me to do the correct colour! The arms were the worst part on him because I had to make them hairy which took an age! But I hope you like the final result :) X

Bamboo Graphics Tablet

To make my life easier when ondrawing on the computer I purchased a Bamboo Graphics Tablet which I wouldnt be without now! You dont need a large one the smallest size will do but it makes drawing so much quicker! It allows you to draw those flowing lines that might be stopped halfway by the mouse jumping! Its also really fun to use and comes with great sofware and I can see it even being a mouse replacement! It only took about an hour to gt used to it and the pressure sensors that allow your line width to change with the pressure is a life saver! This means that you can now draw as if you were using an ink pen to create variation even within a simple line drawing :) x Its well worth a buy :) X

Manga Studio Debut 4

I got Manga Debut Studio 4, which is great, as an alternative to Photoshop (which is a stupid price because I just do this for a hobby). It was hard to get a grasp of it first after finding a few Youtube tutorials on there it became easy enough to work! I now prefer this to Paint shop Pro as its much more art orientated offering lots of diffrent tones and emotional bubbles for speech which are sorted into catergorys so you know what effect each one has on the reader :) X! I highly recomed this software if your a beginner that needs a little guidance but you also want the option to explore the manga style more :) X It is also excellent for organising stories and there is a way to view the pages of your whole comic rather than just one at a time if that is neccesary :) X <3 Any computer images on my blog from now will be done using this software (unless I say otherwise :) X )

Dwarf Lord- Promarkers

From the post below I talked about Promarkers and this dwarf was coloured in by Promarkers. I used the large end to blend the rock colours together and I think that the quality of the Promarkers really makes the image! I love this picture, it took a while but it was worth it! Hope you like it :) X

ProMarkers :) x

I knew someone that had promarkers and I thought they were amazing :) x they are by far the best pens avalible! There a bit expensive but well worth the investment! They are duel tip pens and come in almost any colour! But the best thing is that they blend and you can get tone from just one pen colour (if you keep going over and over the paper eventually you get a darker shade)! Unlike felt tips you wont see the marks from where you have to go over an area that you have already coverd :) x they are a great way to try out colouring before you colour in the image on the computer! There is also Promarker paper avalible which means that they dont bleed which I highly recomend it :) x I got both the pens and the paper and any drawing from now on that is not computerized will be coloured in by Promarkers using the paper! I LOVE THEM!

Page Two of my Manga Comic

First Manga Comic

As part of my one of my many learning curves in my art work I decided that it was time to do a manga comic! I enjoyed doing this alot, but I had only intended for it to be a quick manga strip with some humour! However as I went on the comic got longer until it turned out to be 3 pages long (and the humour dissapeared with the length ). This in normal terms was not very long but it was alot longer than I had intended it to be. I also decided because of the program (Paint Shop Pro) I was using that I would draw the panels large and then scan them in and arrange them on the page afterwards. This also allowed me to keep having to expand my comic because I didnt know what panels were going where. After more reaserch that I did after making the comic I discoverd that the flow of any comic at all is important and by not arraninging it before I scanned it in the flow I feel was effected and the panel became a bit scatterd on the page. However I had loads of fun designing the characters and although there personaltity may not be portrayed so much though the comic I loved thinking about all the other adventures my characters would have encounterd during there lives. I am hoping as my skills increase that I can revisit the characters and make a better improved comic that involves those two. But I will do a post at a later date explaining what those charecters really were. Even though this is not the best comic in the world I hope you enjoy looking at it and this really was a point that helped improve my art alot... there was alot of trial and error :) X

Third piece of art- Demi God

With this piece I had worked out the layering but I had become a bit obsessed with every detail so I spent long hours at the computer to try get it finished. This is when I learned that it is better at the end of a piece to walk away and come back to finish the last final details because once I finished this I realised that his body was a bit too squashed up and by that time it was too late to change anything. But I still love him and I am proud of the night sky on this one because after several attempts I though it came out really well :) X
Hope you like it ...

P.S. Much like the illumination from the cyber boy this I messed around with the lighting features behind him to give the picture an added glow :) x

2nd piece of artwork - CyberDude!

On this piece I still hadn't quite worked out layering but at least I knew about it :) x I had however worked out how to edit brightness and lighting effects which added to the illumination from the screen the cyber guy is looking at :) x I had some trouble with the background because I didnt know what to do. I had tried drawing tiny circuits but it was too fiddly and since I hadnt worked out layering I couldnt make a mistake without having to rub out a large area. So I settled for the background I have which I may change later. But I still like him and it was a but diffrent to the usual think I like to draw which is less sci-fi more fantasy. It was a good challenge! Hope you like it :) X

First piece of digital manga I ever did :) x

I can't remeber how I got into manga drawing but I had always wanted to give it a go. I had doodled some very basic people before just to get the idea but when I got a manga art book I really started to draw more and decided that I would try digital artwork. Its nice to use pens and paint but when you do it digitally you get so much more creative freedom and limitless colours! So one day I sat down and drew this picture on Paint Shop Pro and 5 hours later I emerged with this pieceof art work. I am very proud of this piece I think just because it was the first proper piece of digital art or manga I had ever done. I hadn't even worked out how to do layering yet, but it was the start to what has become a bit of an obsession :D
Hope you like it, I havent named her but shes some sort of Princess who looks willing to fight just about anything :) I also think she would be magical :) X
